@RyKarp7 The gauge number is the determined by the weight, in fractions of a pound, of a solid sphere of lead with a diameter equal to the inside diameter of the barrel. So a 12guage would be 1/12 of pound of lead!

The British use “Bore” inside of guage for inside diameter of the barrel. Bird shot and Buck shot are BB sizes and can vary in size!
