The German Shepheard is a GREAT DOG because it has all the qualitys reqired. very smart, 3rd smartest breed of dog! easy to train, a very powerfull bite! 240 pounds isnt bad! Very fast 28 MPH! great nose! good as a attack dog or sniffer dog for drugs & explosives and can be multi-role trained! good for both police forces and armed services!

I never said German Sheppard is not a great dog,cause it is..It is good all around dog,like someone said 2nd in everything…i was just talking about pure bite power,and protection work,and all I said there are breeds in that particular subject who bite stronger,and are tuffer in protection-can take more pressure than GS,wich is linked also wit their better pain resistance than GS-Bullmastiff-mastiff breeds are much more pain resistant than sheppard thats all,but Gs is a great dog…

I don’t like how people think of german shepherds as police and military dogs. My little sister got a GSD puppy for las christmas, and she can be really sweet, playful, and alot of fun. She barks at strangers, and other dogs. She’s one, or two years old.

my mate had a police dog, (german) and when he was allowed to take him home it went to the top of the stairs and didnt let anyone go up. there not cute little cudly things!

Shepherd’s have a very high prey drive and is in my experience & very resistant to counter attack, when compared with most dogs. I have never ever seen a show type shep in a working role?
Its not all about bite strength! Its a mixture of everything, the fact that they make such a good service dog is down to their numerous skills. Personally Its their ability to detect!!! and apprehend the bad guy, as well as finding other potential threats or evidence such as drugs or explosives.

My German Shepard, Mattie, is rly hard to train. she outgrew our house and we cannot train her. she is very loyal to me thats true but she is a handful. Oh and my Chihuahua, Cricket, is a better guard dog. lol. but i still live them both. <3

i own the worlds biggest german shepard (hes in the guiness book of world records) he is a police dog and comes home on the weekends tho. he is great some1 broke into our house he actually killed the robber! we had to go to court bcuz of our dog! overall a great dog …
