You where supposed to apply it to the CPU, plus that was WAY too much!
Even though I don’t need to watch this, thanks for taking the time to make it back then.
. .you didn’t talk about fans in your previous tutorials, so this fan will confuse some people. .
did it come with the prossesor or do you need to buy it seperately
@gideony16 Fans always come with the processors
youtube.com/watch?v=EyXLu1Ms-q4&feature=related Check this video for a better way of applying thermal grease/paste. I will use the dot method.
Do all phenom II cpu stock heatsink/fan’s have pre-applied thermal pad applied? Like would I be able to skip the thermal grease step if I wanted to use the pre-applied thermal pad?
i say the size of a pea. or an airsoft bb. grain of rice is to small. u need it big enough so the spu is being cooled all the time.
not all have it pre-on but if u see it pre-applyed to the heat sync then yes you can just set it on, dont add any extra thermal paste or it may overflow and short your mother board.
@maxamillion4536 BB might be about right. Then again, you don’t really need to cover the whole IHS, it’s just a thin layer of copper over the actual chip. The CPU die under the IHS is only like 1/6 th of the size of the IHS and that’s the area that you really need to have a good contact on.
true, the actual processors are in the very center.
It’s actualy better to NOT spread the paste because it will creat bubbles and will cause the heat to nit transfer as well. I saw a vid ov it and using a small circle, it will spread out with little to no bubbles. That’s the only thing I didn’t agree with. But overall, great video
is the fan come with motherboard
About the cooling paste, U don’t even need it if you have a good fan, like from Zalman. My both PC’s are both EXACTLY the same, and the one has NO paste, and runs constantly on about 62 degrees, with a zalman. The other one runs with 59 degrees, with the same fan, with paste.
You actually dont need it with a good fan
Haha wow.. Okay so those of you that are following this video and plan on doing this, make sure you apply the thermal paste to the cpu its self. YOU DO NOT NEED AS MUCH AS THIS GUY USED! Just use a pee size dot in the center, a single line down the cpu and place the heatsink on. If you want, you can give the heatsink a little twist so that it spreads the paste out but you do not need to. The thermal paste will spread its self out were it’s needed (i.e were the heatsink and cpu make contact.)

Fucking damn. I had to drive all the way to RadioShack to get some grease because my first attempt at installing the fan went to hell. Had to remove it at the same time praying that I didn’t just blow $200!
ANYONE BUILDING A COMPUTER, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS PART OF THE TUTORIAL!!!
Look up the right way to apply thermal grease, and do it that way.
its easy
hehe
oh shit i’m high and what is this feels like a ton of bricks on my head is full of fuck
1: put it on the cpu
2: don’t listen to this guy
3: don’t put so much fucking grease on there
…DID HE JUST USE THE WHOLE FUCKING TUBE OF THERMAL PASTE? OH GOD.
wah so far Four fucks have been posted on comment TODAY…. u unlock a fucking achivement
holy fuck why not just submerge your pc in thermal paste
oh wow too fucking much thermal paste
@narrendran5 no, usually come with CPU. Make sure you get CPU in a box though. If you get with just antistatic bag, then no fan will be include.
Go ahead
