mismag asked for an explanation and i would like to give it a try. i’ll be posting mutliple comments, cause its a lot of explaining, i even shortened it a bit.

If you take away all the fancy cutting you actually do this:
- you have a pile of 9 cards,
- you place an ace on it.
- you place a pile of 15 cards on top of it,
- you place an ace on it.,
- you place a pile of 15 cards on it,
- you place an ace on it, you place a pile of 9 cards on it.
- After that you take 4 cards and place it on the bottom. leaving you with this:

So you have arranged a deck were the aces are from the bottom:
- The four cards you place on the bottom of the deck later on and the pile of 10.
- That makes the first ace 15th place
- Then the other pile of 15 cards
- making the second ace 31st place
- then the second pile of 15 cards
- making the last ace 46th place
- plus 5 cards on top (pile of 9 minus 4 cards)

We just counted form the bottom, but we need to know there place from the top.
Those are 6th place, 22nd place and 38th place.

When you divide the pack into 2 piles the odd cards get eliminated. The place the aces are now in are there original places divided by 2. So thats 3rd 11th 19th. Since were now counting from the bottom and the pack has now 26 cards which is a even number, when you recalculate the places of the aces counted from the top the places will be even numbers.

The places on which the aces start are even numbers, but when divided by two they become odd. Since 52 is a number which can be divided by two two times before it becomes odd. And the places of the aces will turn into odd numbers the first two times you deal the cards. After that the numbers (places of the aces) will remain even, while the number of cards in total become odd.

So when you recalculate the places from the bottom, to places from the top it will become even again. It switches a couple of times when the deck gets smaller but it will never be the same, if the aces are on even places, the deck will have a odd number of cards.
I dont know the exact math behind it, but this is how it works. Let het real math be done by some real mathmaticians.
