We’re all so concerned about Toyota’s that are made here in the US while at the same time this administration ignores over 14 millions unsafe Gen3 Seatbelts in Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep from 1993-2004 where people have been “ejected” from their vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected but still used the design. Instead they were given billions in bailout money and helped to be “given” away to FIAT, an Italian company.

All of this accussation is not true..why all of this complaints happen only in north america? They just want to destroy the image of number one automaker..CTS is a 100% american company who manufactured this gas pedals design by americans from indiana and u.s patent..Originala gas pedla used by toyota is Denso..We do all know that american auto industries are now in the side of the graveyard…I wil and still buy Toyota..

If the government owns Chrysler and GM, isn’t it a conflict of interest or even against anti-trust laws for them to investigate and take action against Toyota for their recent gas pedal/ brake problems? The hubbub today is how American Auto industry is capitalizing on Toyota’s problems of late.

YES buy American cars. i just got back from a trip to Japan an the fact is they have a we versus them mentality(backed by racism). They wouldn’t buy American cars even if they were far superior to Japanese

    OH What a feeling!

cts built a toyota designed pedal to toyota specs. cts also builds pedals for ford/nissan/honda, none of which have problems. cts has only been building pedals for toyota less than a year. toyotas UA problem goes back to early 00′ models. lexus’ all have denso sourced pedals, they arent on any recalls even though there several cases of lexus killing people with UA including much covered CHP officer and his family. you keep hugging them toyota nuts-natural selection will run its course.

A graph in The Wall Street Journal Tuesday showed Toyota had 596 complaints in 2009, fewer than Ford Motor Co. in 2007 and 1999. The graph showed Toyotas numbers soaring over the past 20 years, without relating the figures to the rising number of its vehicles on the road.

I fixed one using a Canadian nickel – it took about 5 minutes and a little pocket screwdriver – no joke – look it up – “Canada comes to the rescue”

  16. saywhatt87No Gravatar

@mrabuckten actually thats a bad idea cuz then the steering wheel will lock, the best way is to put the car on neutral

  17. saywhatt87No Gravatar

that last part was really helpful, I wonder if stick cars would have this poblem too??

  18. mrabucktenNo Gravatar

    yes your right

@samurai0japan jap cars are shit, every jap carmaker is protectionist and are going to die soon. too big for quality, so kill the customers. troll. american cars are better than jap cars, then euro cars. japanese cars can stay in asia

  20. EatmyDust1311No Gravatar

@LordPillsbury1959 chrysler belongs to fiat, not the government

  21. GOPSpinMachineInODNo Gravatar

@saywhatt87 – That isn’t true. It will only turn all the way counterclockwise and lock the wheel when the car is in PARK. Try it in your car standing still.

  22. GOPSpinMachineInODNo Gravatar

@EatmyDust1311 – lol, obviously, youre a muscle car gearhead. American cars have light years to go to catch up to German and Japanese car engineering.

  23. GOPSpinMachineInODNo Gravatar

@saywhatt87 – no they don’t. Obviously, you don’t know how a manual tranny works.

  24. EatmyDust1311No Gravatar

@GOPSpinMachineInOD no, im not a “muscle car gear head” ia am more of a car enthusiast, which is why i would never consider anything that has come out of japan in 15 years as something to consider buying. japan has sold its soul for reliability, and toyota made the lf-a and is now paying for it in spades

  25. GOPSpinMachineInODNo Gravatar

@mrabuckten – correct. Do they even teach this to drivers anymore? I had an old beater Pontiac with mechanical cable get stuck open years ago. I just shut off the car and held the emergency brake release while pressing on the emerg. brake. I lost most steering with the engine off, but was traveling straight, besides, I’d take my chances instead of flying out of control at 100+mpg
