No offense but that really didn’t explain anything that people didn’t know already. The term: ‘Robots In Disguise’ pretty much covers it. And yes, even though I’m a G1 fan, I think it’s really stupid for a huge robot to transform into a tiny gun or tape recorder. And also for Optimus Prime’s trailer to always disappear.

i know watcha mean, that gun would way 6 tons

If these guys have the technology to rebuild their entire structures in a matter of seconds/minutes, I find growing/shrinking technology pretty easy to swallow, actually. *lol* Of course Megs turning into a gun isn’t the most PRACTICAL thing to transform into, but hardly impossible, I think.

As for Prime, that’s just sloppy writing. :P I liked how in RiD, they often wrote in Prime’s “trailer” to serve some sort of purpose when he was in regular robot mode instead of super-mode.

Yes i agree that primes trailer does disapear, and i do think that is stupid, but When Megatron transforms into a gun, the gun is small compared to the robots, to humans the gun is HUGE.

Well have you seen the first episodes. Soundwave transforms into a cassete player right? A cassette player that is really small when compared with his full size. In one of the episodes, he becomes small enough to fit into Spike’s hand (and Soundwave is as tall as Megatron/Optimus). Hence, I can deal with a shape-changing robot. But a shape changing robot that shrinks to something like 1/50th of it’s size? Exactly the reason why I prefer the whole ‘object of equal size’ thing.

He turns into a REAL Cassete player in one episode!?!
    thats dumb
i have always known him to be a GIANT Cassete player.

  8. ClifftothemaxNo Gravatar

Yep, it’s true. Soundwave transforms into a VERY small cassete player, Spike then picks him up in his hand and carries him into the Autobot base (wondering who would leave a cassete player in the middle of a canyon), the idiot didn’t even notice the Decepticon symbol on the front. Again, another reason why I prefer ‘objects of equal size’, it just feels more and more stupid otherwise.

The reason why a 3 story robot can change into a tiny cassette player, is a process refered to as “Mass Reduction”. The ‘Creators’ of all robot life, use “mass reduction” through digital-mass-conversion.The ’spark’ is the only portable energy source capable of producing the energy needed. The sounds of ‘transforming’, is actually mass reduction/expansion taking place. This concept is explored in the Transformer novels, which i stumbled on in a cheesy bookstore. 3 part series. Very good read.

And just why did the Decepticons not melt the deactivated Autobots after they had been brought back first? I’m sure the Autobots would have disposed of their enemies’ bodies.

When the Decepticons recover, Starscream shoots at the volcano’s rock wall causing it to collapse. The ‘cons then do the old super villain cliche of leaving the heroes in a perilous situation and just assume they die as a result, when the falling rocks actually jar the Autobots awake instead.

It’s not the best origin story, but at least the writers gave us some explanation as to why an alien robot would transform into a 70s hatchback as opposed to a tricked-out spaceship or something.

Yeah they do always do that like why not blast them or blast the rock and not leave.

  14. nddljNo Gravatar

    Where’s Optimus Prime?
Is there a site where I can watch the series, or the first season in english?

  15. PotcharadanaiNo Gravatar

Awesome! I’ve been wondering what that sound was and how the hell they became so small. Any way can you post the book online?

  16. spongedude93No Gravatar

    Yeah it’s called Youtube. I prefer tommyj666the2nd.

  17. nddljNo Gravatar

Well duuhh…other than youtube I meant to say.

  20. TenretniStudiosNo Gravatar

Wait wait wait…. If Invisibility is the best way to hide. Why don’t they all do that? And Holograms to. Why can’t Optimus sneak up behind Megatron. Invisible. And freak him out by Projecting several hundred Optimus’ in front of him.

Still doesn’t explain why, in one episode, the Constructicons were in Earth vehicle mode in a flashback to Cybertron taking place millions of years before they came to Earth!

  22. ibanedfrmrs2No Gravatar

only mirage is capable of that i think hence the name Mirage.

  23. theprimo100No Gravatar

maybe soundwave and megatron ar holloe, with a tiny microchip in there heads to work, so the panles just fold in!

  24. ClifftothemaxNo Gravatar

    Except they aren’t.
The show explicitly states that (and in Megatron’s case, shows it). They have full inner-workings like every other Cybertronian. If all they had was one microchip, chances are they’d not be able to even move or transform (no servo joints for limbs) or would have extremely limited intelligence (one microchip as opposed to an entire processor?)
